Mary J Blige + U2 = "One" Awesome Track

I'm loving Mary J Blige's take on the U2 classic, One. The feedback on this song seems pretty divided, though. Many U2 fans feel that the track is unnecessary at best, and a travesty at worst. However, as a lifelong U2 fan, I think it's fabulous. First of all, a great song with valuable lyrics deserves to have more time in the spotlight. Classics get covered because they're worth it; rather than whine and moan about it, U2 fans can simply appreciate the fact the song has new life and that they get to hear a new take from the original band itself. And personally, I find the Mary J Blige cover (you can hear it on her Breakthrough album) more effective. (Blasphemy, I know!!) The song has an uplifting message, but the original was incredibly melacholic. While this is what makes it endearing for many, I love the power and outwardly displayed emotion that Mary brings; plus, it's simply wonderful to hear a powerful female voice singing these words. I'm definitely heading to the iTunes store for this one!
